Social events & entertainment at Victoria House

Each week's program of planned recreational opportunities offers a variety of activities.  A typical week's offerings might include art, craft, music, fun exercise, and reminiscence sessions.  Each activity is presented by a professional practitioner.  Staff also arrange frequent outings in the home's minibus (fitted with lift) to Island events or to explore the tranquil beauty that is the trademark of the Isle of Wight.

On fine days staff may accompany residents on easy walks
to the beach or to the local shopping area (wheelchairs are available).  Occasional theatre trips are organised. Other planned or ad hoc activities include Bingo, various games, quizzes, picnics, coffee mornings, birthday parties and social events. All activities are free and optional, residents and their visitors can join in whenever they wish. Victoria House maintains a small in-house library including large print books. There is also a monthly collection of large print books from the local library.  Newspapers, video tapes, and music and spoken word cassettes are freely available together with a variety of board games.  Residents are encouraged and helped to follow any hobby.
